asked the Minister for Health if an investigation of the properties of the barnacle found on Irish beaches shows that they have anti-cancerous qualities.

Despite the most extensive inquiries I have not been able to ascertain that there has been any scientific investigation which would support the implication in the Deputy's question. If any evidence supporting such a claim can be furnished I will be glad to have it considered.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary consider initiating such an investigation?

That would be a matter for the Medical Research Council.
