Industrial disputes monitoring unit

Summary

The unit’s administrative costs cannot be separated from the Department’s overall costs; it has prepared 453 written reports. The Minister offered to provide staffing grades and wage-cost information.

Garrett Fitzgerald Mr. G. Fitzgerald Fine Gael

asked the Minister for Labour the cost to date in his Department of the monitoring unit set up to provide early warning of industrial disputes; and the number of reports prepared by this unit.

Comment on this

It is not possible to separate the costs of the monitoring unit from the overall cost of administration of the Department of Labour. If the Deputy requires the wage costs involved I can let him have the grades of the people employed there who receive the same salary as persons of an analogous grade in the civil service generally.

The number of written reports prepared by the unit to date is 453.
