Colley asked what funding had been provided for recruiting 500 additional gardaí. The Minister did not have the estimate figure and invited a separate question, assuring him the necessary recruits would be paid for.
Could the Minister indicate how much money has been provided in the Estimates for this year, or alternatively has been sanctioned by the Department of Finance, subject to a Supplementary Estimate, in respect of the recruitment of the additional 500 gardaí he announced some months ago, that is, for the current financial year?

I have not got the figure of the departmental estimate, but if the Deputy puts down a separate question to me on that point I will give him the answer.
