asked the Minister for Agriculture the progress made with the soil-testing programme; the number of counties in which the programme has been completed; and the progress made in the counties of Leitrim and Roscommon.

The national soil survey being conducted by An Foras Talúntais has been completed in ten counties, including County Leitrim. The soils in six other counties are currently being surveyed. As a preliminary to undertaking the survey proper in County Roscommon, a general examination of the soil resources in the county has been carried out.
