asked the Minister for Education the total amount of grants paid annually to St. Patrick's College, Maynooth; whether he sanctions staff appointments in the college; and if he has any proposals for the introduction of legislation to alter the governmental structure of the college to bring it into line with the other constituent colleges of the NUI.

The total amount of grants paid to St. Patrick's College, Maynooth in 1976 was £1,238,920, including a capital grant of £587,770. I have no function in the sanctioning of staff appointments in the college. The legislation now being prepared will provide for a governmental structure for the new University of Maynooth.
