Kerry public lighting loan

Summary

The Minister said no loan application was pending, but a £41,000 loan for Kerry public lighting had been sanctioned in November 1976.

John O'Leary Mr. J. O'Leary Fianna Fáil

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a request from Kerry County Council for sanction for a loan to enable public lighting to be improved and extended throughout the county; and, if so, when the loan will be sanctioned.

Comment on this

There is no loan application from Kerry County Council for the improvement and extension of public lighting before my Department. In November, 1976, however, I sanctioned a loan of £41,000 for this purpose.

I am surprised that Deputy O'Leary is not aware of this because his colleague, Deputy Spring, has been pressing it in this House for years. He has had a letter to that effect from me and I understood that it was read at a council meeting.
