asked the Minister for Finance if he has noted the proposals made by the Confederation of Irish Industry to EEC Commissioner Antonio Giolitti with regard to the operation of the Commission's regional policy; and if he is in agreement with these proposals.

I have seen a copy of a CII newsletter summarising the points made by confederation representatives to Commissioner Giolitti. I am in broad agreement with the general approach of the confederation, particularly with the view that the regional fund should be allocated to Community regions of greatest need. I have noted the detailed proposals of the confederation.
