Subsidies for baby food

Summary

Dowling asked why baby food was excluded from subsidies and urged the Government to consider subsidising it, citing sharp price increases. The Taoiseach noted that the announcement covered milk and milk products and treated this as a separate question.

Can the Taoiseach indicate why baby food was not included in the items of food stuffs that were subsidised in view of the fact that babies have to eat as well as adults?

Is the Taoiseach aware that this essential food for babies has increased by a couple of hundred per cent, and would the Taoiseach not consider subsidising baby food?
