The Taoiseach’s office said May 1975 was the latest reliable source for unemployment shares by age group and would circulate the figures; the next survey report was expected early the following year.

asked the Taoiseach the percentage of total unemployed represented by the following age groups (a) 14-24 (b) 25-34 (c) 35-44 (d) 45-54 and (e) 55-64.

Patrick J. Lalor Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach (Mr. P. Lalor) Fianna Fáil

The most recent period for which reliable information of the kind requested by the Deputy is available is May, 1975, when the first sample Labour Force Survey was taken.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the required information.

Following is the statement:

1975 Labour Force Survey. The percentage of the total unemployed (including persons looking for work for the first time) represented by different age groups.
