asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the acute housing shortage in Cappawhite, County Tipperary; and if, in view of this, he will approve an application for a compulsory purchase order submitted to him by the Tipperary South Riding local authority in respect of land in that area.

I confirmed the Tipperary South Riding Compulsory Purchase (Housing) No. 1 Order, 1976, on 4th November, 1977. The land at Cappawhite referred to by the Deputy is included in this order.
