Disclosure of political party contributions

Summary

The Minister said there were no plans to require disclosure of political donations or establish a voluntary register. Members pressed for greater transparency and questioned whether contributors had received value for their support.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will consider introducing legislation (a) requiring political parties to publish full lists of individuals and companies which have made contributions to party funds exceeding £50 in any one year; and (b) requiring all limited companies to publish the amounts which they have contributed to party funds.
