UCG consultant appointments

Summary

The Minister said consultant selection for NUI college building projects is each college’s responsibility. Collins urged UCG to advertise such appointments; the Minister noted his concern.

Edward Collins Mr. E. Collins Fine Gael

asked the Minister for Education if University College, Galway appoints consultant architects and engineers as a result of public advertisements as is the practice in other colleges of the NUI; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Comment on this

The appointment of consultants for building projects in the colleges of the NUI and the mode of their selection is a matter for the authorities of each individual college. I am not, therefore, in a position to make a statement on the matter.

Concern has been expressed at the fact that University College, Galway does not in fact advertise for such consultants. I would be grateful if the Minister would bring to the notice of the university authorities the point of view——
