‹ Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Electricity Scheme.

Electricity connections for eligible households

Summary

Enright asked whether the scheme could help eligible people without an ESB connection get electricity installed, clarifying that he had old-age pensioners in mind. The Minister said such proposals may be considered when schemes are reviewed; the Chair then moved to the next question.

Has the Minister any proposals to extend the scheme to people who are entitled to free electricity but are not connected to the ESB? Will he make some arrangement to facilitate them by having electricity installed for them?

That is a completely separate matter.

It is, but would the Minister be able to enlighten us on it?

Comment on this

I can only give the same answer that I gave to Deputy Browne. There are many things of that nature which are desirable and which come up for consideration from time to time when the operations of schemes are being reviewed.

I do not think the Minister quite understands——
