Control over publicly funded schools
Horgan questioned the lack of ministerial control over publicly funded institutions’ decisions to remain open or close. Wilson said he had answered the separate question previously and stressed that his priority was adequate secondary-school provision; Horgan noted that others remained dissatisfied.
Is the Minister satisfied with the situation in which comparatively large sums of public money can be invested in educational institutions without any control by the Minister over whether these institutions remain open or closed other than a requirement to repay a loan?

That is a separate question which I answered last week. Some of the actual statistics I gave last week were amazing to me.

The Minister is satisfied only with one situation and that is adequate, full provision for secondary places in the north city area, the south city area and the country in general.
