asked the Minister for Education the body that will validate the final examinations for those students currently enrolled at Thomond College of Education, Limerick; and the final qualification level.

The National Council for Educational Awards will validate the final examinations for those students currently enrolled at the Thomond College of Education, Limerick. A degree will be awarded to those students who successfully complete their courses at the college.

Was this decision communicated to the authorities of the college and to the students?

If the Deputy puts down a separate question on that, I will answer him. It was some time ago. I do not have the exact date. I am sorry the Deputy did not include that in his question.

Is the Minister aware of the implications of this decision? Some teachers will have NCA degrees and some will have university degrees. Is he not perturbed at this situation?

No. Most teachers will have university degrees and Thomond College will have NCA degrees, which is what they want.
