asked the Minister for Health the steps he is taking to have a geriatric home provided in Castlerea, County Roscommon, having regard to (1) the unsatisfactory situation that obtains at present in relation to this section of the community and (2) the fact that a serviced site is available.

The Western Health Board's approved capital programme for this year includes provision for accommodation for the aged at Castlerea.

My Department are currently considering proposals from the board regarding the purchase of a site and the type of accommodation to be provided.
