Castleknock secondary school provision
Castleknock boys currently attend the Navan Road school or Coolmine Community School; the Department is consulting on a site for a new school, but the Minister could not give the distance to the nearest school.
asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that there is no secondary day school for boys in the Castleknock area of Dublin; and, as this is a rapidly expanding area, if he will explain the steps he is taking to meet this need.

: I am aware that the nearest secondary day school for boys from the Castleknock area is the Christian Brothers' school on the Navan Road.
The Coolmine Community School includes Castleknock in its catchment area and will be in a position to cater for Castleknock for the next few years.
To meet the future needs of the area my Department are at present in consultation with the planning office of Dublin County Council in regard to a site for a new second-level school.
