White Paper on children's allowances

Summary

O'Leary asked whether the forthcoming White Paper would settle the Government's position on taxing children's allowances; the Minister said he could not anticipate its contents and that Members must await publication.

The Minister is adept at drawing a red herring over any issue. Can he say whether the forthcoming White Paper will indicate definitely the Government's position in relation to children's allowances or will the speculation continue?

Comment on this

I do not think it would be appropriate at this stage for me to an ticipate the contents of the White Paper. The Deputy will have to await its publication.

It all depends on the feed-back.
