asked the Minister for Education if legal study students in regional technical colleges are entitled to higher education grants; and, if not, why.

Grants under the higher education grants scheme are allowed in respect of the two-year courses for the national certificate in legal studies in the two regional technical colleges providing such courses, namely, those in Letterkenny and Waterford.

Do I take it that there is no basis for the suggestion that grants are not available to legal study students in the Letterkenny regional technical college?

My reply stated that grants under the higher education scheme are allowed in respect of the courses in Letterkenny and Waterford, and there is no doubt about that.

If that is the position I will be very happy, but when I obtain further information I will communicate with the Minister.
