John's Castle restoration

Summary

The castle is not currently under the care of the Commissioners of Public Works, so they cannot fund its preservation. The Minister is seriously considering taking it under State control after finding alternative accommodation for the Gardaí occupying part of the site.

This monument is not in the care of the Commissioners of Public Works for preservation under the National Monuments Acts of 1930 and 1954 and consequently the commissioners are not authorised to make funds available for its preservation.

Yes. The Garda occupy part of that area. I am seeking alternative accommodation for the Garda and I am giving very serious consideration to taking this monument under State control.
