asked the Minister for Finance if the Central Bank has received any representations from Arthur Guinness and Company seeking an allowance for Irish residents who wish to invest in this British-based company; and the outcome of these representations.

I have been informed by the Central Bank that representations were received by the bank from the company on 26 January 1979 about the effect of exchange control regulations on the acquisition by Irish residents of its shares. These representations are being considered.
