asked the Minister for the Environment when it is proposed to set up the commission to deal with the question of the revision of Dáil constituencies.

It is proposed to set up this commission when the results of the census of population, to be taken in April of this year, are published.

Can the Minister tell us whether it is proposed that the next general election will be fought on the basis of revised constituency boundaries?

That is a separate question.

If a census had been taken in 1976, as it should have been, the commission would have been established a long time ago.
