Departmental ground rents
Keating sought details of ground rents and buildings on land leased for the Finance Department. Wyse said the information would take time to assemble and asked him to repeat the question later; he said a ground-rent buyout was outside his Department’s remit.
asked the Minister for Finance the name and address of the ground rent landlord and the annual ground rent payable in respect of all land leased by or on behalf of his Department, and to enumerate the names and number of buildings thereon.

The assembly of the information available will take a considerable time and this position is aggravated because of difficulties of communication arising from the postal and telephone operators' strike. I shall be glad, therefore, if the Deputy will repeat the question towards the end of March 1979, when I hope to have the information available.

I would be quite happy to do what the Minister suggests if in line with the Government commitment to abolish ground rent the Government will buy out the ground rent on these buildings.
