asked the Minister for Justice the number of inquiries to buy out ground rents received to date under the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) (No. 2) Act, 1978; the number of vesting certificates issued and the number of applications on hand at present.

The number of inquiries received concerning the ground rent purchase scheme provided by the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) (No. 2) Act, 1978, between 1 August 1978—the date the Act came into operation—and 2 March 1979 inclusive, was 9,992. The number of vesting certificates issued under the Act during that period was 626 while the number of applications for vesting certificates in hand on 2 March 1979 that is applications made and in respect of which vesting certificates have not issued, was 1,111.
