asked the Minister for Social Welfare if his Department received a proposal from the Southern Health Board to increase the free fuel allowance by a further £1.00 as from 1 January 1979 to compensate for the increase in the cost of living; and, if so, when it is proposed to sanction same.

My Department have not received such a proposal. It has been confirmed, however, from the Southern Health Board that a resolution in the terms mentioned was passed at a recent meeting and is being submitted for consideration.
