Priorities for EMS funds

Summary

Colley said most loans available after EMS entry would finance infrastructure, while interest subsidies would support adjustment to the system.

Joe Walsh Mr. J. Walsh Fianna Fáil

asked the Minister for Finance his priorities with regard to the spending of money available to Ireland in 1979, on entering the European Monetary System.

Comment on this

As I have previously stated, the loans available to Ireland in 1979 following our entry into the European Monetary System are to be applied for the most part to the financing of infrastructure projects. The capitalised interest subsidies will be used in such a way as to assist our adjustment to the system and to help overcome problems arising from our participation in the system.
