Stephen’s Green building renovation
Outside contractors were hired to renovate the Office of Public Works building; the Minister said large projects are publicly tendered, while OPW staff handle painting ancillary to routine maintenance.
asked the Minister for Finance if outside contractors were engaged to renovate the Office of Public Works building on Stephen's Green; and, if so, why.
Comment on this
Outside contractors were engaged for this work. In the case of jobs of this magnitude it is standard practice to invite the painting trade generally by public advertisement to tender for the contract. The painting staff employed directly by the Office of Public Works carry out painting work which is ancillary to day-to-day maintenance works executed by the Office's central building maintenance workshop.
