Increases in the average retail prices of oil and petrol equal to the increases sanctioned by the recent Maximum Prices (Petroleum Products) Orders which became operative on 14 March 1979, 23 April 1979 and 19 May 1979 would be equivalent to a rise of 1.1 per cent in the consumer price index for mid-February 1979.
