asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of serological assistants appointed in the Department of Agriculture in 1979 for work in the livestock disease eradication programme, and if it is intended to make further appointments later this year.

Ten appointments have been made so far this year. There are some vacancies for serological assistants in my Department at present and arrangements are being made to fill these as quickly as possible.
