Vietnamese government’s role in refugee flight

Summary

Bruton asked whether the Minister had investigated why people were fleeing Vietnam or made representations to its government. The Chair ruled that this did not arise from the question on receiving refugees.

Have the Minister or his Department made any effort to ascertain the situation which exists in Vietnam which has led to those people fleeing their country? Has he made any representations in the matter to the Government responsible in that country?
