asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of a report (details supplied) that the Teachers Union of Ireland may take industrial action in September 1979 in relation to the proposed new community schools; if he will make a statement about the effects of any such action; and if he plans to open the said schools regardless of any industrial action.

I am aware of the newspaper report. However, I have not had any direct communication from the Teachers' Union of Ireland on the matter.

As negotiations relating to the deed of trust are still proceeding daily, I do not consider it appropriate to make any statement at this stage.
