Concert hall construction schedule

Summary

Construction is slightly behind in some areas, but the major work is expected by the end of 1980, with testing and handover in early 1981. The Minister attributed delays to bad weather and rescheduling noisy work around university lectures; members questioned how weather affected the indoor renovation.

asked the Minister for Finance if the progress being made with the building of a proposed concert hall is on schedule, and the likely date of completion.

Comment on this

Progress is slightly behind target an some areas of the project but it is expected that the major portion of the work will be finished by end 1980 as scheduled. Acoustic and environmental tests will then be carried out and any necessary adjustments made before the works are fully completed and handed over early in 1981.

What works are behind schedule? Has it anything to do with RTE in regard to electronic fittings? What section is being held up?

Comment on this

The delay is mainly due to inclement weather and to the reprogramming of noisy work to avoid interference with university lectures.

Comment on this

It is all indoors. How can inclement weather affect it if it is indoors?

Comment on this

The roofs need to be fixed.

Comment on this

Is that in the Minister's reply? Did somebody write that for him? It is all indoors. This is about renovation of an existing building the roof of which is there.
