asked the Minister for Health if he will establish a national council for the elderly to ensure their needs are being met by voluntary and statutory bodies in Ireland.

Detailed proposals for the reorganisation of the National Social Service Council, which incorporate the proposed establishment of a Council for the Aged are being considered in my Department. I hope to announce a decision on this matter very soon.
