Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Special Exemption Orders .

Jim O'Keeffe Mr. O'Keeffe Fine Gael

asked the Minister for Justice the number of special exemptions permitting extended licensing hours granted in each of the last three years for which figures are available.

Comment on this

: I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 453 of 20 February last in which the numbers of special exemption orders granted in each of the years 1975 to 1979 were given. Particulars of the number of special exemption orders granted during the year ended 31 July 1980 are being compiled and I will forward them to the Deputy as soon as they become available.

Jim O'Keeffe Mr. O'Keeffe Fine Gael

: I ask the Minister to have that examination completed as soon as possible bearing in mind the urgency of the situation, the problems associated with this late night drinking and the evidence which is before the House.

Comment on this

: As soon as all the necessary examination work has been done I will be in a position——

: The Minister has the figures.

Comment on this

: I have the figures, but there is much more involved in this area than mere figures.
