asked the Minister for the Environment if he is prepared to sign the necessary order for the provision of a much needed bridge across the canal at Belmullet, County Mayo.

I am informed that Mayo County Council's proposals for an opening span bridge have been reconsidered by the council and that a new proposal will be submitted to me. The question of my making an order does not, accordingly, arise at this stage.
