Muckinagh bridge repair funding

Summary

A grant for replacing the collapsed bridge, which is not on a public road, will be considered once detailed designs and cost estimates are prepared; the question was otherwise sent for written reply.

andMr Mannion asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in making money available for the repair of Muckinagh bridge, Connemara, County Galway, which collapsed in August 1980; and if he is aware of the hardship that has been caused to local people because of the delay in repairing this bridge.

I understand that the making of a grant towards the cost of replacement of the bridge, which does not form part of a public road, will be considered by Roinn na Gaeltachta when detailed designs, cost estimates, and so on, have been prepared.
