Coast erosion funding
The Minister said EEC funds were not sought because other projects could use the country’s quota, while annual domestic funding was provided but could not meet all needs. Deasy cited long-delayed projects and sought the current-year amount; Harte highlighted River Row, Moville, and the Minister asked Deasy to submit a question for the figure.
asked the Minister for Finance if moneys have been requested from the EEC specifically for the prevention of coast erosion; and, if not, why.

EEC fund assistance has not been sought for the prevention of coastal erosion because there is a sufficient availability of other projects to utilise this country's fund quota.

The Department of Finance make funds available for coast erosion protection work every year.

Is the Minister aware that the amount of funds being made available is entirely inadequate? A number of projects in my county have been before the Department for years. One in particular has been before the Minister's Department since 1964 and I should like to know why funds have not been made available.

We get a substantial amount of money each year for this work but no matter how much we would get it would not be adequate to do all the coast protection work we have to do.

The Minister did very little with River Row, Moville. If I tell the Minister where it is will he spend some money on it?

The Minister referred to a substantial amount of money being made available. How much has been made available in the current year?
