Public service staffing since 1977
The Minister said the Permanent Defence Force was the only public-service section with fewer staff than in 1977, while the Reserve Defence Force grew; he confirmed the Army was the only part that had not increased.

The only section of the public service where numbers have decreased since 1977 is the Permanent Defence Force. Here, however, there has been a more than offsetting increase in the strength of the Reserve Defence Force.
