Recovery of Churchill tank

Summary

The Minister said the buried tank was an unequipped scrap hull whose recovery would be dangerous and expensive, and it would not be suitable for museum display.

asked the Minister for Defence if the Ulster Folk Museum will be allowed to recover the buried Churchill tank.

Comment on this

The old Churchill tank which was buried in the Glen of Imaal had no gun or internal equipment and could more accurately be described as a scrap hull. I am advised that its recovery would be dangerous and expensive and that, even if it were recovered, it would not be suitable as a museum exhibit.
