The Minister said he does not control exports of animals other than farm livestock, so a ban on exports for experiments does not arise.

Barry Cogan Mr. Cogan, Mr. B. Desmond Fianna Fáil

andMr. O.J. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will ban the export of animals for experimental purposes to countries where legislation governing experiments on live animals is non-existent or which afford even less protection to such animals than obtains in this State.

Comment on this

I have no responsibility for controlling the export of animals other than farm livestock and the question of introducing a ban on such exports for experimental purposes does not arise.
