Irish Trust Bank depositor payments

Summary

The Minister said £6,000 was provided for 1981 claims and £1,843,611 had already been paid to Irish Trust Bank depositors. L'Estrange challenged the provision and contrasted the payments with the lack of compensation for Irish workers who lost money in Bray Travel.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) whether he intends paying any public moneys during 1981 in respect of the failure of the Irish Trust Bank and (b) the total paid to date.

Why are the Government giving money to foreign millionaires and they will not give it to Irish workers who lost their money in Bray Travel? The Minister can bray a lot but he does not appear to be ready to answer the question.
