The value of eggs in shell imported in the years 1978, 1979 and 1980 and in the period January-March 1981 was £0.4 million, £2.5 million, £8.0 million and £5.0 million respectively. Imports of eggs not in shell amounted to between £0.3 million and £0.4 million in each year.
