Donegal small farmers on unemployment register

Summary

White requested counts of small farmers receiving unemployment benefit or assistance in Donegal and named exchanges for 1977 and 1981. Moore said he would circulate figures for nearby dates, noting that Glenties had no exchange, smallholders were excluded from the live register, and the county total included Buncrana and Letterkenny.

asked the Taoiseach the number of small farmers on the unemployment register who received unemployment benefit and assistance on 1 May 1977 and 1 May 1981 in County Donegal and at the following employment exchanges: Ballyshannon, Donegal, Ballybofey, Dunfanaghy, Dungloe, Glenties and Killybegs.

Comment on this

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the required information for 29 April 1977 and 24 April 1981.

Following is the Statement:

¹There is no local employment exchange in Glenties.

²U.A. smallholders are not included in the live register.

³The total for Co. Donegal also includes data for the Buncrana and Letterkenny local offices.
