asked the Minister for Social Welfare why recipients of social welfare benefits and allowances have not been granted the 25 and 20 per cent increases, respectively, provided for in the budget.

Provision for the increases referred to was made in the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1981, and the increased rates of payment have been in operation since the beginning of last month.
