Residential centres for autistic persons

Summary

The Minister said some specialist facilities provide hostel or group-home settings, with further proposals under consideration subject to available resources.

asked the Minister for Health the steps, if any, she has taken to provide family-type residential centres for autistic persons.

Comment on this

If the Deputy is referring to the hostel/group home setting the position is that the present range of separate specialist facilities for autistic persons includes some provisions of this nature. There are a number of further proposals under consideration for the expansion of this type of facility and I will be examining these as sympathetically as possible in the light of the total resources available to me for the development of new services.
