Redundancy payment eligibility

Summary

The Minister could not determine eligibility from the details provided; entitlement depends on service, age and the reason for dismissal. Department officials will send explanatory information and offer further assistance.

asked the Minister for Labour whether a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, who has worked with the same company for eight years, is entitled to redundancy money.

Comment on this

On the details supplied by the Deputy it is not possible to say whether or not the person concerned would be entitled to a redundancy payment. Entitlement to redundancy payment is determined by length of service, age and reasons for the employee's dismissal. The reasons which relate to such entitlement are set out in the Redundancy Payments Acts. I have arranged that the person concerned will be forwarded the appropriate explanatory documentation and given any further assistance he may require by officials of my Department.
