asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will ensure that all workers temporarily laid off by Irish Steel Ltd., will be employed in the near future.

I am informed by Irish Steel Ltd. that, because of significantly changed circumstances, the company have now no productive employment to offer to the workers who are at present laid off. I understand that the company are willing to negotiate the redundancies with the union concerned. This matter is the responsibility of the management of Irish Steel Ltd.
