asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider the introduction of some measure of registration for companies or groups who offer security services.

The introduction of any system of registration of security firms raises issues of considerable difficulty, the nature of which was outlined by my predecessor in reply to a Parliamentary Question by the Deputy on 23 October 1979. There has been no change in the situation in the intervening period and, as of now, I have no proposals to introduce legislation for the regulation or control of the private security industry.
