Legal inequalities for unmarried mothers

Summary

Shatter asked what legislation the Government would introduce to address legal inequalities affecting unmarried mothers and their children. Ahern said it was a separate question for the appropriate Minister.

The question is concerned with the age of unmarried mothers in respect of illegitimate births and would the Minister agree that unmarried mothers and children who are labelled as illegitimate are suffering from major inequalities under the legal system? What steps do the Government intend to take to introduce legislation in this area?

Comment on this

That is a separate question and should be put down to the appropriate Minister.
