‹ Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - RTE 2 Reception. RTÉ 2 reception in Farran/Farnanes
Summary
The area currently receives only RTÉ 1 via Spur Hill; RTÉ plans experimental Cork transmissions to investigate resolving technical difficulties with RTÉ 2.
asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the Farran/Farnanes area of County Cork cannot receive RTE 2; and the steps he proposes to take to rectify the matter.
Comment on this
This is a matter for RTE in the first place who say that the area in question is served by the transposer station at Spur Hill and only RTE1 programmes are broadcast from this station at present. RTE plan to carry out experimental transmissions in the Cork area this year to determine how best the technical difficulties in providing RTE2 might be resolved.
